The Pusiga District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Abdulai Zubeiru, has led a group of Assistant Directors of Education and Circuit Supervisors on a tour of selected schools to welcome newly-admitted pupils on their first day in school.
He was accompanied by the District Education Director, Mr Cosmas Yeledour.
The initiative formed part of efforts to encourage newly-admitted pupils into kindergarten and primary one to stay and be happy in school.
Interacting with teachers and pupils in the schools visited, Hon. Zubeiru urged the school children to learn and work hard to achieve their life aspirations.
He advised the teachers to make teaching their top most priority, adding that an education founded on a solid foundation in the early stages of the pupils was the basic ingredient that revealed the good works of a teacher.
He stressed the need for teachers to live exemplary lives for the pupils to emulate since children picked up good and bad habits from their environments.
Assorted soft drinks, biscuits, balloons and pencils, provided by the District Assembly in collaboration with the Bawku Municipal branch of Bayport Financial Services, were distributed to the more than forty (40) selected schools.
