The Third Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Pusiga District Assembly has taken place at Pusiga in the Upper East Region.
The two-day meeting brought together Assemblymen, Government appointees, Heads of Department, Non-Governmental Organizations and the Media.
The Presiding Member, Isaac Hakim Anaba, in an address to welcome members, urged all stakeholders to come out with ideas that would accelerate the development of the District and ensure that peace and harmony prevailed in the District.
He appealed to members to respect each other’s opinions during deliberations and put their heads together to come out with policies and programmes that would reflect the aspirations of the people of Pusiga.
Delivering the Third Sessional Address, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Pusiga, Hon. Zubeiru Abdulai, urged members to constantly share their accumulated wealth of experience to enrich discussions and debates on the floor of the august house.
He reminded members about their duties as outlined in the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which required members of the Assembly to maintain close contacts with their electoral areas, consult the people on issues to be discussed in the Assembly and collate their views and opinions for presentation to the Assembly for deliberation.
The Hon. DCE prayed the august house to deliberate and approve the Annual Action Plan for 2018 and Fee Fixing Resolution for 2018 documents that contained the details of programmes and projects to be undertaken in 2018.
He said it was his fervent hope that the august house would go through the documents carefully and give approval for the documents to become true working documents of the Assembly.
Hon. Abdulai urged members to educate and sensitize the electorate on the dangers of indiscriminate bush burning since the dry Harmmattan season would soon catch up with the District in the coming months.
He expressed gratitude to the august house for his confirmation as DCE.
